The traditional costumes that the herdsmen wear when driving their cattle to the alpine pastures are a feast for the eyes. With various Gault Millau and Gilde awards the Toggenburg region is also a culinary stronghold.Taking part for several days in one of our tone workshops in Toggenburg’s inspiring environment will immerse you into a very special world of concentrating on natural yodelling, your voice, the dulcimer, the monochord or other instruments. There is a varied programme of workshops given by experienced instructors. Whichever course you choose, you can be sure of an intensive approach to your own voice or a new instrument and of becoming more proficient in whatever knowledge you already have.

Europe's biggest Model Railway Exhibition

Enjoy a visit to the biggest model railway (500 m²) exhibition in Lichtensteig with 13 trains all running at the same time. ( 20 minutes drive from Unterwasser ) In the rooms of the Erlebniswelt Toggenburg (experience the world of Toggenburg) you find a unique collection of old-time motor bikes and agricultural machinery.

Demonstration Cheese Dairy

Appreciating to art of cheese making live! ( 1 hour drive from Unterwasser ) In the midst of the picturesque countryside of Appenzell lies the Demonstration Cheese Dairy. From the visitors gallery you can follow live each step of the traditional art of making cheese. You can look directly into the 6000 liter cheese vat where the milk is being processed. Fascinating how the cheese harp is drawn throught the vat, transforming the milk into a granulated mass – the break. From six meters high you can take a look at 13.500 maturing cheeses, which are cured and turned over by a robot in defined intervals. A visit to the Appenzell Demonstration Cheese Dairy is also an unforgettable culinary pleasure. Wether in one of the coy corners of the restaurant or on the sunny terrace you can enjoy delicious Regional cheese dishes or other tasty specialities.
