christmas shine on the romantic road

Munich, Nördlingen, Rothenburg and Augsburg

The Romantic Road: Here the cities line up like pearls on a chain. It is the most popular and at the same time the oldest holiday route. In Rothenburg ob der Tauber, visitors enjoy strolling around the Reiterlesmarkt, which has hardly changed despite its long tradition. Built against the backdrop of historic houses, the Christmas stands offer a wide range of handicrafts and Christmas decorations. In Nördlingen you are expected for an advent walk through the old town and afterwards you stroll over the romantic Christmas market and taste many delicacies such as roasted almonds and candied apples. Finally, you will visit the Augsburg Christmas Market. It is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany and around one million visitors appreciate this every year.

Day 1:   Arrival in MUNICH

Arrival via Rothenburg o.d.Tauber

On your way to Nördlingen we recommend a stop in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the most beautiful places on the Romantic Road. We would be happy to book you a guided tour of the old town (optional). Stroll comfortably through one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. For over 500 years the old town has been transformed into a true winter fairy tale every year in Advent. Visitors from Germany and abroad are enthusiastic about the famous Reiterlesmarkt, which has hardly changed despite its long tradition. Built against the backdrop of historic houses, the Christmas stands offer a wide range of handicrafts and Christmas decorations. Try the white mulled wine or a snowball, a delicious pastry made of short pastry. Afterwards the journey continues along the Romantic Road to Nördlingen.

Day 2:   Romantic Christmas Market Nördlingen and city tour

Romantic Christmas Market Nördlingen and city tour - After breakfast, an advent walk through Nördlingen awaits you today. Nördlingen is the only city in Germany with a completely preserved city wall with five gates and eleven towers. In the middle of the historic old town is the late Gothic hall church St. Georg with the bell tower about 90m high, also known as Daniel. Your guide will guide you through the medieval alleys and tell you more about the history of the former free imperial city, the Romantic Christmas Market and the Nördlinger Krippenweg. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Stroll around the Christmas market and try many delicacies such as roasted almonds, candied apples and other delicacies.

DAY 3: Departure to munich - via Augsburg

Today it is time to say goodbye to the Romantic Road again. Before you start your journey home, we recommend a visit to the Christkindlesmarkt in Augsburg. It is also one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany and around one million visitors appreciate this every year. The 150 decorated Christmas stands are located on Rathausplatz, in Maximilianstraße, along Philippine-Weser-Straße and in front of the Moritz Church. A splendidly decorated Christmas tree and an eight-metre-high Christmas pyramid make not only children's eyes shine. We would be happy to organise a fairytale-like city tour in which you will be told the history of the Fugger city up close by a guide in robe. Afterwards you say goodbye to the Romantic Road and start your journey home.
