Day 1/ Berlin

Welcome and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the city at your leisure.

 

Day 2/ Berlin - Wittenberg

The trip begins with a city tour of Berlin. Visit attractions like the Brandenburg Gate, the cathedral of Berlin, the German Parliament building and the lovely boulevards. Then travel to the city of Wittenberg, where you will visit the house of Martin Luther that has been transformed into the most important museum of the Reformation. Next, visit the Luther’s tomb in the Schlosskirche church. We also stop by the St. Mary church.

 

Day 3/ Wittenberg - Torgau - Leipzig

The tour continues to Torgau, traveling through the landscape along the Elbe River. In Torgau, visit the Hartenfels Palace and its chapel, the first Reformation church consecrated by Luther. Also visit the grave of Katharina von Bora, Luther’s wife. Pause in front of the building where the main ideas in the articles of Torgau were developed. In the afternoon, arrive in Leipzig, the site of the famous debate between Johann Eck and Martin Luther. Sightseeing tour of Leipzig and visit to the Thomaskirche church. Also get to see the city hall and the St. Nikolai church, where the prayers for peace against the communist dictator- ship began.

 

Day 4/ Leipzig - Eisleben - Erfurt

After breakfast travel to Eisleben, “the City of Martin Luther” and UNESCO World Heritage Monument. In Eisleben visit the house where Luther was born and where he died. Other attractions on your itinerary include the church of St. Peter and St. Paul, where he was baptized, as well as the church of St. Andrews, where he held his final sermon. In the afternoon, continue to Erfurt, where Luther became a monk. Also have the opportunity to visit the Augustine Monastery, Martin Luther’s religious community.

 

Day 5/ Erfurt - Eisenach - Frankfurt

In the morning there is time for sightseeing in Erfurt. Attractions include the St. Mary church and Krämerbrücke bridge. The tour continues to Eisenach. Take a guided tour of the impressive Wartburg Castle, where Luther translated the New Testament into German. Visit the Latin school and Bach Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Monument. The tour concludes in Frankfurt.
