Lisbon, Fátima and Santiago de Compostela


Day 1: Arrival

We fly to Lisbon, then we drive to Sintra and take an orienting walk. We travel on to the westernmost point of Portugal to Cabo da Roca and finish our first tour in Lisbon at the hotel (1 night).

 

Day 2: Lisbon 

After the opening service in the Antoniuskirche we explore the historic old town. Then we drive to the other side of the Tagus and visit the widely visible Cristo Rei monument, a famous landmark of Lisbon. At the impressive Jerónimos Monastery with its cloister we conclude our tour of the capital and pass the tower of Belém, also a landmark of Lisbon, on to Fátima. In the evening, opportunity to attend the rosary prayer and the lights procession (3 nights).

 

Day 3: Fátima 

In the morning we will do an informative tour of the Holy District. After lunch, we pray the Way of the Cross, which leads us to the birthplace of the seer children to Aljustrel.

 

Day 4: Pilgrimage and excursion to Batalha

Pilgrims from all over the world unite in prayer at the Sunday pilgrimage celebrations on the esplanade in front of the Basilica and give the place an incomparable atmosphere. In the afternoon we take a trip to the famous monastery Batalha. After the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385, in which Portugal defeated the Kingdom of Castile, King João had the monastery built, which he had promised the Dominican Order in case of victory. Against the background of this remarkable history, one of the most magnificent gothic buildings of the Iberian Peninsula was built during a construction period of almost 200 years. Then stay in Nazaré on the Atlantic and return to Fátima. In the evening opportunity to participate in the lights procession.

 

Day 5: Via Porto to Santiago de Compostela

In the morning we drive to Porto in the second largest city in the country. During a guided tour we will get to know the Cathedral of Sé, and from the banks of the Douro we will see the bridge Ponte de D. Luis, the landmark of Porto, before we continue to Santiago de Compostela (2 nights).

 

Day 6: City of hl. James

Spain's oldest pilgrimage site is Jerusalem and Rome, the third Holy City of Christendom. After a tour we celebrate together the pilgrimage in the cathedral, which we visit later in more detail. In the afternoon we have the opportunity to stroll through the winding streets of the historic old town.

 

Day 7: Departure

Transfer to the Airport. Flight Back.
