Woman Pilgrimage on the Trail of St. Teresa of Ávila

God and me - we are always together in the majority "-

From this word Teresa speaks her experience and conviction that a life connected to God gives confidence and hope.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival in Madrid. Upon arrival, we explore the main attractions in the city center around the Plaza Mayor. 2 Overnights.

Day 3: Toledo

In Toledo Teresa founded in 1569 a monastery. Many of her literary works were written in the City of Three Cultures - Christians, Jews, Moors. On a tour of the city, high on a cliff above a loop of the Tagus River, we marvel at the monumental cathedral. The traces of Judaism can be found in the synagogue El Tránsito and in the oldest former synagogue in Toledo, Santa María la Blanca. In the evening we reach Ávila. (4 nights).

Day 4: Ávila - City of St. Teresa

As the culmination of our pilgrimage, we now get to know the city where the saint was born in 1515. We go into the city of her childhood and youth: visit her birthplace and the two monasteries La Encarnación and San José, which are closely related to their lives. The Basilica of San Vicente is one of the most beautiful creations of Romanesque architecture in southern Castile. Walking through the 800-year-old city walls, we understand why Ávila was declared a World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Royal Segovia

Our route today leads to Segovia, Castilian capital, the coronation of Isabella the Catholic and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here founded the hl. Teresa her 9th monastery. In the monastery church is the grave of her companion, the St. John of the Cross. In the historic old town you will find the 2000-year-old Roman aqueduct, the impressive cathedral and the graceful Alcázar, one of the most beautiful castles in Spain.

Day 6 Salamanca - World Heritage of Humanity and Alba de Tormes

Excursion to Salamanca: Here we immerse ourselves in the golden ensemble of time-honored buildings: first and foremost, the 800-year-old university, the first in Spain to be dedicated to St. Awarded Teresa the honorary doctorate. Between these old walls there is always life, because Salamanca is very popular among students of all nations. Also impressive is the existence of two cathedrals in a building complex. In the New Cathedral, a chapel was dedicated to the saints. We look forward to visiting the churches as well as the famous Casa de las Conchas. At the house of st. Teresa we pick up her track again.
