Day 1: Arrival
Flight to Barcelona. The hl. Ignatius of Loyola and the story of the founder of the Jesuit order first move us to Manresa. Let yourself be impressed by the "Sacred Cave", which served the saint as accommodation for months, as well as by the Church of St. Ignatius and the Basilica, which was converted from houses. Our destination, the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat, which nestles against the "sawn mountain", we reach in the early evening hours. It is possible to join in the vespers, and if you are lucky, they will be ceremonially framed by the famous boys choir Escolania (2 nights).
Day 2: On the Holy Mountain of the Catalans
After a mass in the Chapel of Mercy of the Santuario de Montserrat, the religious and cultural center of Catalonia, we immerse ourselves in the history of the Black Madonna and its convent. In the afternoon we walk along well-laid paths through the fascinating sandstone mountains of the Montserrat or, if you prefer, you can relax on the funicular.
Day 3: Via Barcelona to Poblet Monastery
The capital of the Catalonia region bears the signature of the great architect Antoni Gaudí. The highlight of the day is its famous and unique Sagrada Familia, but the Barrio Gótico also attracts visitors with the gated cloister of the cathedral and the well-known church of Santa María del Mar. In the afternoon, we head to the UNESCO World Heritage Monastery of Poblet, the largest and most magnificent royal monastery Spain and at the same time the best preserved Cistercian monastery of the occident (1 night).
Day 4: From Poblet Monastery to Zaragoza
Together we celebrate a service in the Monastery of Poblet and are introduced in the chapel of San Jordi, the magnificent cloister and the royal tombs in its history. Zaragoza, one of the most important catholic shrines of Mary, receives us with the impressive towers of its basilica. Enjoy a walk through the streets of the monumental old town (1 night).
Day 5: Over the Pyrenees to Lourdes
After a guided tour in the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar and a chance to enjoy delicious food in the lively market halls, we will drive through the spectacular mountains of the Pyrenees and across the Spanish border to the famous pilgrimage site of Lourdes in France. After dinner we have the opportunity to participate in the atmospheric evening procession of lights (2 nights).
